The World of the Narrows · Book 2

Namesake gave me exactly what I wanted after Fable: more of the story, more of her history, and a satisfying chance to see her get some revenge. Apparently surviving the first book was only the beginning of her to-do list.
I liked that this continuation gives us more development of Fable’s personal story. There is more to learn about where she comes from and how that history connects to what is happening now. That extra background adds to the story rather than simply repeating what the first book already established.
The twists worked well for me too. Some were the sort you can see taking shape, while others managed to catch me off guard. I don’t need every turn to be a complete surprise, especially when the ones I expect still lead somewhere satisfying. Here, I got a good mixture of both.
Fable getting her revenge was a particular highlight. There is something very pleasing about watching a character finally get the opportunity to settle things, and this delivered the payoff I was hoping for.
Overall, I enjoyed this even more than the first book. A satisfying continuation that develops Fable’s story and gives her some very welcome payback. 4.5 stars.
