THE READER BEHIND THE REVIEWS

About Ian

I’m Ian. I read around 25–30 books a year, mostly science fiction and fantasy. Apparently real life doesn’t have enough dragons, questionable technology, or people making catastrophically bad decisions.

Thrillers and other genres occasionally sneak onto the pile too. My reading list has ambitions. My free time has objections.

Five stars. Still some complaints.

IanReads is where I keep my thoughts on what I’ve read: the good bits, the irritating bits, and the moments when an author explains something for the seventh time, presumably in case the first six explanations escaped through a window.

I can love a book and still complain about it. An excellent ending can forgive a lot. Three pages of dialogue during an allegedly urgent emergency will still get a mention.

These are personal reviews, with ratings based on how much I enjoyed the book. No scoring spreadsheet. No literary tribunal. Just me, a story, and occasionally an eyebrow doing some heavy lifting.

Come for the books. Stay for the mild grumbling.

I try to avoid major spoilers, and I link series reviews together so you can follow the reading order without needing a corkboard and string.

If you like an enthusiastic recommendation with the occasional side-eye, you’re in the right place.
